Here are a few hints on applying
for scholarships.Where to look for scholarships:
Look both on-campus (Financial
Aid office) and on the internet.
Business or community organizations are another good place to look.
Applying:
First: Most scholarships require
a letter asking for specific information. Make sure you answer the questions,
all of them. This is one of the main reasons students don't get the scholarships
for which they applied. They simply neglected to answer the questions
that the scholarship
review board asked. That can instantly disqualify you!
Second: Spell checks and grammar
checks are not enough. Proofread the letter and then have someone else proofread
it for you.
One other hint: When you do your
taxes, do your FAFSA at the same time. Some money and some scholarships are
first come, first serve, so it's to your advantage to do it, and do it early.
